This photograph is well known amongst photographers and art lovers around the world, and heads up a series of heart-rendering, painterly landscapes by the very exceptional Chris Friel. It is however only one representation of his photography, and there is much to be admired in his collection. In a discussion at lens people Chris describes his use of the tilt-shift lens and his long exposure, handheld movement technique that has produced his individual style. These are images that cannot be qualified other than for their artistic merit and exquisite compositional value. While an exploration of his work brings the viewer to some confronting portraits, the landscapes seem endlessly mollifying, quite literally creating a feast for the eyes.
