This photograph is well known amongst photographers and art lovers around the world, and heads up a series of heart-rendering painterly landscapes by the very exceptional Chris Friel. It is however only one representation of his photography, and there is to be admired in his collection. In a discussion with Eva Polak, Chris describes his technique with long exposure, handheld movement and shift-tilt technique that has produced his individual style. These are images that cannot be qualified other than for their artistic merit and exquisite compositional value. While an exploration of his work brings the viewer to some confronting portraits, the landscapes seem endlessly mollifying, quite literally creating a feast for the eyes.
